StripeCon 2016 Code of Conduct

All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our conference are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Our aim is for everyone attending to have a good time. Organisers will enforce this code throughout the event.

General behaviour

We are dedicated to providing an enjoyable, challenging, inclusive conference. We want to provide a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of their life choices or personal characteristics, for example, but not limited to: race, sexuality, gender, choice of technology.

We do not tolerate bullying of conference participants in any form. This includes outings on social media, blogs or other ways of sharing experiences. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organisers.

Property

We are not responsible for your personal property. It is your responsibility to make sure it is safe at all times.

Do not steal, damage or deface other participants property. Unattended gear found, e.g. a laptop or phone, should be handed to the organisers, unless it can be given back to its rightful owner right away.

Do not damage or deface any property of the location. Don’t place stickers or other hard to remove items onto items that are not yours.

If, by any accident, you spill food or liquids on the floor, please clean up after yourself. Location staff are happy to help you with the necessary cleaning items to make sure everything stays clean and tidy.

If, for some reason, your property is blocking an emergency exit or thoroughfare, you will be asked to move it. For the safety of all attending, please do so right away.

Helping out

If you are asked to help rearrange chairs and tables, or any other items, please be courteous and help our staff make a smooth transition.

In short, be good to yourself and others and don’t break the furniture.

Failure to follow our Code of Conduct

Reporting

If you feel harassed, or in any other way, unsafe, or see somebody being harassed, or have any other concerns, please report to the organisers and/or location officials to take appropriate action.

Sanctions

If you are found to have broken our code of conduct, you are expelled from the conference without a refund.

Sponsors, volunteers, staff and organisation

All rules above apply to sponsors, volunteers and staff as well.

For sponsors, even though you are allowed to hand out goodies/stickers, please do not force your product onto attendees.

For volunteers, organisers and staff, although you have a higher rank at the conference, you are expected to follow our code of conduct, you have to be the example towards the attendees.
